It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas … and here at Two Quirky Birds HQ, we’re busily preparing stories on all our favourite festive things. Each week between now and Christmas, we’ll share our tips on surviving the ‘silly season’ in style.

This week it’s all about decorations … from the tree to the table and everywhere in between. It’s not easy to find beautiful (but affordable) decorations, which is why we were over the moon when we discovered the incredible range on offer at Shades of Pale in Northbridge. They have the most exquisite things, from hand blown glass baubles with feathers inside to ‘bouquets’ of oversized hanging decorations. Strings of brass bells, incredible wreaths and beautiful lights. Gaynor sources all her product from France and Belgium and not only is it really reasonably priced, but you’re unlikely to see these beautiful baubles hanging from your besties tree (unless of course she also subscribes to 2QB)! We both left with several (best to be vague) bags of decorations, so you better get there quickly as they always sell out.

As tempting as it is, you don’t need to replace all your old decorations to make your tree pop. If you intersperse some divine decorations with your old faves your tree will take on a whole new look without costing you the earth. We favour a colour scheme; (silver and red is always a winner) which makes it easy to add to year after year. The only other decorating decision to make is whether to fake it or go for ‘real’ (trees of course). So start decking your halls with boughs of holly. Tis the season to be jolly!!
