Meeting Peta Nicholl was a bit like being reunited with an old friend and at the risk of over staying our welcome, we could have chatted for hours. Her easy and affable personality is reflected in her beautiful home on Sydney’s lower north shore. Built In the 1920’s, this grand P&O style home was bought by the Nicholls in 2012 whilst living overseas. Having resided in the area before, Peta and her husband had often admired this house, so when it came on the market they knew it was ‘meant to be’. It had been sympathetically renovated by previous owners retaining many of the fabulous art deco and period features, so all Peta had to do was add her personality and stylish touch. And with the help of interior designer Alex Brown, she has done that superbly. Peta loved Alex's  modern eclectic style which can be seen in the cool ‘retro tropical’ vibe they have created. Her collection of cane and rattan pieces sit comfortably next to her Asian antiques, art and mementos collected on their family travels. It’s both stylish and eclectic … not formulaic and full of personality and warmth like Peta. The multiple living spaces on the lower level work perfectly for their three young children (and bulldog.. Ron) and from the upper level there are views over Middle Harbour. The covered ‘outdoor room’ flows beautifully on to the level back garden, which we suspect has hosted many a fun party! Having lived internationally and moved five times in the past ten years, 2016 is a year of ‘consolidation’ for Peta who has had a successful career in advertising. Both Peta and her fabulous home ooze personality and style but in the most warm and inviting way. Definitely one of our faves.
