Nathan and Sasha White are the creative couple behind their eponymous furniture and textiles brand, Mr and Mrs White. Based out of a cool warehouse style space in Dee Why on Sydney’s northern beaches, their laid back, simple style is reflected in the beautiful designs they create on site. Their story is a lovely one … they met and married young. Sasha had a degree in graphic design and Nathan worked as a shipwright. After moving into their first apartment they found that they couldn’t find the right furniture that both fit their space and matched their style, so Nathan started creating pieces using his love for timber and handmade design as the foundation. Meanwhile Sasha was yearning for a creative outlet that didn’t involve sitting in front of a computer screen and after her Nan bought her a second hand sewing machine, she soon started sewing pieces for their home and for friends. It didn’t take long for Nathan and Sasha to realise that both their skills and design aesthetic were complimentary, and as they say, the rest is history. Their business grew slowly and organically, staying true to their ethos of simple, honest, handmade design. Their pieces are all functional, simple and beautiful and created with love on site. There is something honest and lovely about being able to look into the workroom from the showroom floor and see the beautiful timbers being turned by hand. There are about 30 pieces in the Mr and Mrs White range, which is constantly evolving. They also do bespoke joinery and some smaller commercial fitouts and are looking to expand into some standalone retail stores. This creative couple ooze that kind of elusive, effortless cool that is perfectly reflected in their stylish and simple designs. We’re big fans.
